Why lithium iron phosphate batteries have greater second-life potential than nickel-cobalt batteries

These are slides I presented at a Volta Foundation webinar (the Battery Forum on BESS, to be specific) about my work on EV battery second life. Notably, this work was a collaboration with researchers from Carnegie Mellon, NREL, and ANL. My talk was recorded and posted here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD7r0wxEuRk.

A Technoeconomic Analysis of Repurposing EV Batteries

This is a poster I made (my first as a graduate student!) to talk about the research I’ve done on EV battery repurposing. I made this poster about two thirds of the way through the project, so some things have definitely changed, but it does a good job of explaining our main finding: the economics of repurposing have a lot to do with the battery’s chemistry.

Agent-Based Modeling

This was a talk I gave at a student-led workshop hosted by GROW+ (Graduate Organization of Womxn), an organization specific to the department of engineering and public policy (EPP) at Carnegie Mellon. The workshop was focused on exposing other graduate students in the department to methods commonly used in EPP research, like agent-based modeling (my topic), GIS and spatial data analysis, and conducting interviews for qualitative analysis.

Using the Bridges 2 Supercomputer

This is a talk I gave on the basics of supercomputing and using the Bridges 2 supercomputer at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center. Using Bridges 2 to run simulations has been instrumental to my first research project and by enabling unique features like OnDemand and creating handy resources like the Bridges 2 User Guide, it doesn’t take that long to get started!
